Be Kind, Eat KIND

Kind bar header

I am currently hooked on KIND snack bars.  I confess that the packaging often caught my eye while I was out grocery shopping, but I did not give in and try them until recently.  Not only are they a yummy snack, but they have some good ingredients too.  The company promises to deliver “ingredients you can see and pronounce.”  The snack bars come in a wide array of flavors spanning different fruit and nut combinations.  My personal favorites are the Cranberry Almond + Antioxidants bar and the Peanut Butter Dark Chocolate + Protein bar.  Since KIND bars contain nuts and coconut, some of the bars naturally have higher saturated fat content.  However, many of these fats are the “good” kind and a daily handful of nuts can be beneficial for heart health and even help lower cholesterol.  Just make sure to check the label before you try a bar so you can balance your daily intake.

If you are going the snack bar route, I feel that these are one of the healthier options on the shelf.  These bars taste great, really do contain ingredients you can actually recognize, and are great to toss in your purse when you are on the go or just have a busy day ahead of you.  And if all that is not enough reason to give these bars a try, the company’s KIND foundation donates $10,000 every month to a cause that helps make the “world a little kinder.”  Check out the KIND website to vote for a cause that moves you or to enter a suggestion of your own.  I was really inspired and touched to read about some of the causes that were listed on there.  It really goes to show how much good we can all do together.  So be kind and eat KIND! 🙂
