I have been waiting for the waterproof version of the Monsieur Big Mascara to come out, so I was excited to hear that it’s finally available! It is priced at $25 and can be purchased at Ulta, Sephora & Nordstrom. I have been using it for a few days now, so here are some first impressions of this new mascara…

Pros:

It really is waterproof! (you’d be surprised how many mascaras claim to be waterproof but fail to deliver)

Does not flake or smudge and has great staying power throughout the day

Defines and lengthens lashes

Good brush that catches your lashes without sticking them together

Gives a natural look (this may be a good or bad thing depending on what you are looking for in your mascara)

Does not weigh down your lashes and can hold a curl (hardly feels like you are wearing anything)

Can be built up without your lashes clumping together

Comes off easily with cleanser unlike some waterproof mascaras (I really love MAC’s Extreme Dimension Waterproof Mascara, but it can be hard on my lashes if I forget to use a primer)

Cons:

Formula seems a little different from the non-waterproof version, which I feel creates more drama and truly “BIG” lashes

In my case, didn’t really create volume

Not a very intense black color, more of a natural finish

Packaging is a little boring (especially compared to Lancome’s Grandiose mascara)

Overall, this is a lovely mascara for an everyday, your-lashes-but-better look. I do feel that it differs from the original formula which creates more dimension. However, this mascara is perfect for those gals who want to give their lashes some quick definition for the office or for an everyday look without too much drama. The formula has wonderful staying power, can be built up without clumping and comes off easily without tugging at your lashes. I hope you found this review helpful and thanks for stopping by!
