BUXOM: Party All Night 12-Piece Mini Set

final article header

I’m glad that Sephora had its sale the week before Thanksgiving, thereby avoiding the rush of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. One of my favorite purchases from my recent haul is the Buxom Party All Night – Mini Lip Plumping Set. It’s a 12 piece collection with some of the brand’s bestsellers including 4 lip creams, 4 lip polishes and 4 lip liners. There’s also a fun eye veil that comes with the set (in case you’re heading to a masquerade ball later). The set retails for $49 at Sephora and Ulta and is supposed to be a $125 value. I’m already a fan of Buxom’s lip products so I was excited to see this! Here are some swatches and my thoughts on this set…

PROS

Ingredients: 2 thumbs up for no parabens, sulfates and phthalates

Value: Considering that Buxom’s lip polishes and creams usually retail for $21 a piece, this set is a nice deal. Yes, you are getting mini sizes, but it’s still a decent amount of product and you get the chance to try a variety of 12 different lip products.

Colors: The colors in this collection are beautiful and versatile. I’m glad that Buxom included a range of shades including more muted, neutral tones as well as some festive, brighter colors. The shades that come in this set are:

Full-on Lip Plumping Creams = Hot Toddy (warm nude), Mudslide (pink w/coral undertones), Cherry Flip (poppy red) and Berry Bramble (bright berry)

Full-on Lip Plumping Polishes = Jasmine (grape/blackberry), Stacy (violet mauve), Kayla (bubblegum pink), and Clair (plum)

Plumpline Lip Liners = Undercover (brown), Dolly Danger (mauve), Scandalous (magenta), Infrared (orangey-red)

Formula: Of course, the creams and polishes have Buxom’s signature tingly, minty sensation and you can definitely feel it on the lips for a few minutes after applying. The product gives the lips a cooling feeling after the initial tingly feeling wears off. Personally, I don’t find that it irritates my lips and I like the cooling effect when my lips feel chapped and dry. My lips do look fuller, but I’m not sure about the actual “plumping” part. The lip liners are pigmented and creamy and come in a nice range of shades. You can even fill your lips in with the lip liner and go over it with one of the polishes/creams for more color and definition. The products glide onto your lips and the creams give a more natural shine while the polishes give that high-shine you want in a gloss.

Packaging: I love the festive packaging and the gold lettering gives a touch of glam. The smaller size is great for taking along in your clutch or travel bag.

CONS

Formula: If you’re sensitive to the tingly feeling of lip plumping products, this may not be a fit for you. Personally, I don’t feel like Buxom’s products leave a harsh or irritating feeling on the lips, but that may be different for other people. The lip polishes do contain glitter which is not a personal preference, and I felt like with the darker lip polishes, the glitter clung to my lips after the color wore off. Also, the lip polishes do feel a little sticky and can make your hair stick to your lips on a windy day : )

Colors: Since this is a set of pre-picked colors, there’s a chance that some of the colors will work better for you than others. Overall, I feel like the shades in the set will work on most skin tones, but there were definitely a couple that didn’t work for me (Stacy looks a bit washed out and even though I was excited to try Jasmine because it looked like a deep red in the tube, it ended up looking more like a grayish-purple on my lips).

CONCLUSION

Overall, I am happy with this purchase. I feel like the value of this set is great for the variety it offers at that price. I’m a fan of Buxom’s lip products and this set didn’t disappoint. Personal favs include the shades hot toddy, mudslide and cherry flip (a very wearable, sheer red that is great if you’re not in the mood for a full-on red lip) and the undercover lip liner. There’s a good mix of everyday shades and more festive colors. I definitely love the lip creams the most. I think this set is a good way to try out multiple colors and the compact size is very convenient to take along for touch-ups. If you’re a fan of Buxom lippies or interested in trying out some of the products, this is a really good place to start. This set would make a beautiful gift as well. I hope you found this helpful and I’m glad you stopped by!

Take care,
