Sigma Makeup Brushes: Top Picks

The right tools can make all the difference and when it comes to makeup, quality brushes are essential. Poor quality brushes create streaky, uneven makeup application, the bristles tend to shed when you apply makeup or when you wash the brush, and sometimes the handle falls off after a few uses (yes, that has happened to me before).

I’ve heard a lot of good things about Sigma brushes, so I looked into the brand and collected a few of their brushes this year. These professional grade brushes are definitely a game changer and I reach for them daily. Sigma runs some good promotions time-to-time, so if you’re patient, you might be able to score a good promo code or purchase the brushes as part of a value set. Just check out the Sigma website to see what specials they are currently running. I usually order directly from their website and the service is quick and reliable.

As far as a little background, Sigma brushes are made with synthetic, antimicrobial fibers that prevent product absorption so you can save some money while keeping your skin clear. The brand also claims that the handles are made from responsibly sourced wood which is layered with 8 coats of primer and paint to help make it long-lasting.

If you’re interested in checking out these brushes but aren’t sure where to start, here are some of my personal recommendations…

From Left to Right: F80, F10, F35, E40, E35, E65

F80: Flat Top Kabuki Brush

This was my first Sigma brush and is the reason I looked into the brand. I heard about the F80 from so many people that I had to try it for myself. I’d say the hype is well-earned. This brush can effortlessly buff foundation into your skin for a natural, even finish. It takes the work out of applying your foundation and the days I’m not in the mood for a beauty blender, I reach for this. The soft bristles are densely packed to help apply foundation in a light, even layer. It washes easily without shedding and stays soft. There is a light lip around the top of the brush so you can tell when it’s time to clean it.

F10: Powder/Blush Brush

To be honest, I purchased this on a whim when I got the F80 brush. I needed a new blush brush and figured “why not?” However, the F10 is definitely one of my favorite Sigma brushes now. The fibers are so soft but still have form (if that makes sense) so it’s easy to place blush right on the apple of the cheek and then blend it out for a natural, flushed glow. I especially like to use this brush with my Charlotte Tilbury swish and pop blushes because it really helps pick up the color precisely. The top of the brush is slightly beveled, so it helps follow the natural contours of your face. It can also be used as powder brush if you prefer.

F35: Tapered Highlighter Brush

This was one of my later purchases from Sigma as I don’t usually use highlighter for my everyday makeup. However, on the days when I want a little extra glow, the F35 brush is my go-to for applying highlight. I like how the head of the brush is a good size, not too big or small, and the end is tapered so you can apply product precisely. The bristles are super soft on the skin and help apply the product in light, even layers. Even though the bristles are soft, it has held up really well and doesn’t shed during application. I usually use this brush with a powder highlighter, but I’m guessing it would perform well with cream highlighters too.

E40: Tapered Blending Brush

The E40 brush is great for blending out your eye shadow. The slightly tapered head makes it easy to blend the crease shade. I also like to use it for a light wash of color all over the eyelid and above the brow bone. The bristles are soft and fluffy and make it easy to pick up the right amount of product and blend seamlessly. If you hear YouTubers talk about that “windshield wiper” motion when blending eye shadow, this brush makes that application technique a breeze. I do wish that Sigma would makes the handles a little shorter on this brush and the E35 so it would be easier to hold and travel with.

E35: Tapered Blending Brush

Hands down, my favorite eye shadow brush by Sigma. The E35 brush makes blending so easy. Compared to the E40, the bristles are a bit shorter and ever-so-slightly firmer, so it allows for a more precise application. The fluffly bristles blend eye shadow beautifully. I highly recommend adding this brush to your eye makeup routine.

E65-mini: Small Angle Brush

I got this brush a while back with one of my first purchases. I’m not sure if they still carry it in the mini size, but the regular size E65 is still available. This brush works wonderfully to apply brow powder in precise, natural strokes. I reach for it whenever I use my Anastasia Beverly Hills: Brow Powder Duo and have yet to find a brush that beats this one’s natural looking application. This brush can also be used to apply gel eyeliner and I imagine that it would make a winged eyeliner look a breeze. This is one my favorite brushes for any kind of detailed makeup application.

Overall, I’m really impressed with Sigma makeup brushes and feel that they were a worthwhile investment. They have held up through regular use, during travel and through multiple washings without shedding. They make makeup application easy and really help me achieve a seamless look. These brushes definitely stand the test of time and the wide selection of brushes that are available for different uses is impressive. If you are looking for high quality brushes that are built to last, I really recommend looking into Sigma. I hope you found this article was helpful!
